UP DATES....

Health:

With everyone [except me] raking and cleaning their yards its been kicking the hell out of my "itis"! It became so bad that breathing was becoming rarity for me! Doc finally had to do something about it! So, for the last three days PoD has had to drive me to the hospital twice daily so I could sit for 15 minutes with a medicated oxygen mask on! I'm not supposed to use an inhaler as the medication makes my heart race! So they have added an extra drug to the heart-racing medication to hopefully not make it race so much...didn't matter...it still races! This makes me feel like crap for about an hour...but at least I can breathe! It is helping because I am able to get some much needed sleep and my lungs aren't making weird noises any more! Here's hoping that this works and I can get over this problem! Oh by the way....the anti-biotics didn't work so it's still a virus!

Where Did the Mouse Go?

WARNING: Hopefully your not eating something when you read this as it could take away your appetite like it did PoD's when I told her!

Yesterday I took this large empty box, sitting in the middle of my spare bedroom's floor, and flipped it over so my cats could reach the window sill better. Right in the middle of it was this blob of something! On closer inspection I saw these parts that looked like they might be ears and bugged out eyes....yup...a squished mouse! Kind of like bug splatter on the windshield! On removing of the splatter, which was rock hard, the tail emerged! I will spare you on the matter that was left on the rug!
The only way I can figure out how it happened was that my son saw the mouse...creamed with the box and didn't tell me! He knew I would have told him to clean it up...seeing as he killed it!
Can't prove it but it seems to be the only answer...the box didn't jump on it by its self......? We will definitely have words!
At least I know now where the mouse went!

Be thankful I didn't show a picture.....!!!

Renovations......still working on them!

Weather:

It's raining right now and the birds are still singing! How much rain....buckets full! I know because I have had to empty many of them....ROOF LEAKS!

BLOGGER NEWS

I can finally blog AGAIN [now that I have said that all will go wrong]!

I hated feeling like I was being censored [can we say paranoid] and after years of having no one interested in what I had to say it was refreshing for me to blabble away...even with no feed back! This way I can pretend that someone is listening and I am not just talking to myself!

Got smart and wrote out other info so all I had to do was copy to here.

I did find another blogger site and had planned on dumping this one if things didn't change. The other site would at least give me the ability to post pictures! Maybe I will continue with this one or do both?

HEALTH UPDATE…for those of you who give a damn

My Bronchitis has gotten worse!

One doesn’t realize how much the pollutants in the air affect your breathing until you start straining for oxygen!

With spring comes yard cleaning [not my yard]…the stirring up of “snow mold” and street cleaning of dirt! I can’t have the windows open for fresh air… there is none!

Not to mention the fact that I have been cleaning & rummaging through clutter! All of the dirt & dust is taking a toll on my lungs!

Six days ago I had to have my son drive me to the hospital because I couldn’t breathe!

I tried everything I could think of to open my airway and nothing worked!

I tried the usual standbys…hot coffee, hot water, Vicks on my chest & the bottoms of my feet & allergy pills! Still…my chest was so congested that it left me struggling for air!

I am very thankful that we still have a hospital!

There is no waiting around in emergency rooms here! I was seen to right away and was given oxygen with added medication…breathing finally became easier!

All I can say is that I am glad that I no longer have a virus…it changed into an infection and that can be treated with antibiotics! Don’t care for the price of them…they are not covered by standard Medicare and costs 7.36 each! I won’t complain too loudly…if they do their job! Right now I am still waiting for them to work…as usual!

Sleeping has been a problem…when I lay down I can’t breathe and it’s been hard learning to sleep sitting upright!

I am no longer contagious yet I still have people moving away from me when I start to cough!

The other sad thing is that my grand daughter has her Bronchitis back also!

Hopefully all goes away for us soon!!!

RENOVATION UPDATE

The renovations got as far as trying to remove the front platform! Instead the reno turned into major Garage Sale!

This was the “first ever” garage sale for me!

All I can say is…what a nightmare!

Gathering all of the junk together was horrendous!

My son got to do all of the heavy lifting and PoD got to do most of the stickers for pricing! All I had to do was decide what was to go, what price and where to put it! I kept putting off the advertising so I missed the ad time for the newspaper and had to rely on flyers throughout the town. PoD had a brilliant idea…use balloons! So I placed a sign on the boulevard in front of my shop and added the helium filled balloons. I think I got more response from the balloons!

It started out as a nice day but as Sask days goes…it rained! Customers came anyways!

NOTE: Helium balloons do not stay floating if it gets too cold…which it did!

I was able to get rid of half of my stuff and the rest will go to the “Town Wide” sale in June. PoD, Hairgirl & I will split the cost of the advertising. Thankfully my stuff is already priced…all I have to do is get it to her place…along with tables to put it on!

This adventure took up a week of my time!

April is a slow time for business so I really wasn’t affected by the down time that might have been caused by the sale preparation.

One good thing came of the sale…my urge to gather more crap is gone! I haven’t attended any other sales…auctions or likewise events! If I do…I definitely will be very frugal about the need for it!

The only other sale I can see in my future is when I sell the shop and that won’t be happening any too soon!

THUMBER UPDATE

For those of you who cared what happened to my cat after she tumbled out the window…she’s just fine!

She sneezed and shook her head for a few days but other than that…all is okay!

She did learn a lesson from her adventure because she won’t sit on the window frame when the window is open! I have placed a chair/stool near them so she can still enjoy looking at the birds…which happens to be her TV.

I’ve also learned a valuable lesson about seeing to safety first…whether it be for a cat or one of my grandkids! When installing something…always double check!!!

It also made me realize how much she is a part of my life!

I hug my cats daily!!!

WTF

I've been trying to blog since my last time and all I have been getting is ERROR!

What a way to get you hooked on something and then take it away!

Keeping this short as I am sure that I will be ERRED AGAIN!

Most likely this one will work and then I will have wasted my only chance...

Color me FRUSTRATED!

HAPPY 3RD ANNIVERSARY TO ME!

It's been 3 years since taking over ownership of the shop!

It's been a struggle but I am finally starting to see daylight at the end of this long tunnel!
Hard work and long hours has taken it's toll on my health....but I could never be happier!

It's also been 3 years.....being SINGLE!

I can't begin to express my feelings on THAT subject!
I never really realized just how much I had given up....just so I wouldn't be alone!

The only good things that came out my loss of 26 years with another....is my Kids, Grand Kids & this place!

I could NEVER imagine life without my family!

Life without my shop?

One day....maybe?

But right now I am still working to see my head out of water for a whole year before I decide anything else!

As for changing the single status?

I'M NOT SURE THAT I WANT TO!!!

My love life has already been three strikes!

So I classify that as being OUT!

With the love of my family...daughter, grand kids, son, 2 siblings and 2 fur kids...my life is complete enough for me....so I am not alone!

LIFE is looking pretty good right now!

WTF

I wonder if anyone else had problem with logging on here yesterday? When I was able.......I couldn't send info!

Did your computer act as screwy as mine did?

Yesterday might as well of been a hoiday...got no work done designing wise!

Spent 2 hours removing the rest of Halloween from the basement of the courthouse & it will not bother me one bit, never to do Halloween in that place ever again!

Renovations have turned into setting up and pricing of all of my crap....I am ashamed to admit to such a mass of collectibles!

DEFINITELY A FRIDAY THE
13TH !...FOR ME !

Thumber's Accident!

Completely my fault!

Parent negligence...wrongful installation of screen for window!

I was sure that I had secured it properly.....should have double checked it!!!!

I had just installed the screen in the window frame and decided to leave it open for a bit. I left the room with Thumber investigating the new opening and the cool fresh air. Minutes later I heard this load bang and knew in an instant what had just happened!

Thumber fell out of the window taking the screen with her!

She has a tendency to stretch her full length up the screen to see how high it goes....her weight popped them both out!

A 16' foot drop to the cement sidewalk below!

I wasn't sure at first because all I saw when I leaned out the open window was the screen laying on the sidewalk! No cat!

I called for her outside a in and still no... I shook the treat can....no Thumber.....she never misses her chance for a treat!

She had a tendency to hide when ever she knows she did something wrong and I think that she would have figured out that what had just happened......was wrong!

I walked up and down the street....around the block....looking and calling for her....hoping not to find a body instead.....

No cat anywhere!

Walking back to my place she surprised me by running out from under the car parked next door!

I was so happy to see her!

She wasn't limping at all....she was running close to the ground acting extremely scared!

Not only did she just fall from a high place but found herself.... outside....all alone! She has never been outside....strictly an indoor cat! She probably panicked because she couldn't get back inside to safety!

The fall and the trauma is added fear but mostly my fear is....

Has she hurt herself internally?

Last night all she did was shake her head once in awhile and sneeze. I checked for any bloody spots after her sneezing and all was okay! I listened to the sound in her chest and she is not wheezing or straining for air. Felt all of her bones and she never tried to get away....her tummy wasn't swollen last night and is okay this morning. She has been wanting her treats and still is able to eat them.....so her appetite is okay also!

But usually she comes down stairs with me.......not this morning!

I will be keeping a close eye on her until she starts acting more like herself.

Hopefully all is well!!!!!

Keeping my fingers crossed........

I will be making sure this never happens again!!!!

JILL TIP:

Flexible Vacuum:

To get something out of narrow places........like cat hair stuck in register vents!
Recycle a cardboard tube from paper towels, wrapping paper, etc and stick them on the end of the vacuum hose. It can be bent or flattened to fit these narrow spaces. Throw away when done!

RENOVATIONS

Shop renovations didn't quite go the way that we wanted it to!

I had forgotten that the previous owner had converted the indented front entrance-way of old...to a platformed bay window. We wanted to remove the platform and have more room for our 6' x 17' application table. Didn't happen!

We found that the cement pad/curb [of old entrance way] had split the space diagonally...so the platform had to stay! Did manage to get rid of the nasty rug covering it, which happened to collect every cat hair around...making it a cat fur rug? Out it went to the trailer that's headed for the dump!

PoD & Son had extreme fun with the demolition...until it turned into a salvage job...back to doing the best that they could with what they had just destroyed! All turned out well and they were able to move the monster application table to a better position. Fill the holes & a coat of paint on the uncovered platform...it will be just like new...and thankfully something easier to clean!

We have decided to have the garage sale earlier than planned! Can't wait for the "Town Wide" sale. I have mostly curio collectibles and craft/hobby stuffs.

All of my accumulated weird stuff is going on the chopping block as soon as we can manage! PoD's afraid that I will change my mind and keep it all!

Next job will be...covering walls left from the first reno...when we moved in here 2002. Tired of seeing half finished stuff!

Hopefully all goes better tomorrow!
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY SON!

I forgot to wish my son a happy birthday on my blog!

He turned 26 on April 5.....where did the years go!

I didn't forget his actual birthday day...he got presents from his sister, niece, nephew and me. I even had a cake for him. So I really didn't miss his day...just blogging about it! After all...this has been kind of a diary for me.

I'd like to make mention of something I never figured I'd ever live to see....my son "DUSTING" inside of his new car! His niece & nephew had gotten him a dusting kit and that was the very first thing that he used!

His buddies were home for the holidays so they all got together and bought him "shots" at the local pub. He crawled in around 4:00 am the next day...thankfully he left his car there and walked home!

Only one person was a jerk on his special day....
Down With Another Bug!

Here I am...again....up at 4:00 am!

This time with this awful GAS problem!

Your body fills your stomach with gas...you think your about to burst...then you do...all openings!!!

Add nausea along with loose bowels.............get the picture!

Definitely not a time to be around friends and family.......even the cats aren't parked near me as usual?

Using a famous quotation...."it's a rumbly in the tumbly" right now!

I hear there's a new type of "Flu Bug" going around Dodge right now [ bigger question is...when is there not] and seeing as there has been such an influx of kids in the shop lately.....go figure I'd catch something!!! My son had trouble with his stomach all day yesterday also?

Will be interesting to see if Pod & the kids have the same thing going on in their house?

Instead of coffee this morning I am drinking peppermint tea. I'm hoping that the herb will help ease the gas...so far not working....

Got to run...............

CATS & RENOVATIONS

Suki has been either helping me out...or is frantic that I'll forget something of hers in the move!

So far I have received; 2 scraps of vinyl, 1 Muppet toy, a pen & 2 kinder toy cars.

I think she's either bringing me stuff to pack for the garage sale or she thinks we're moving again and wants me to pack some of her things.

I'm not sure which one?

I can tell that the chaos of the house/shop cleaning/clearing [a rare sight to all] has upset both cats.

Suki hates it when I'm doing laundry because hanging up and put away my clothes makes her think that I might be going away for awhile, so this packing & moving of boxes has her stressed.

Remember all boxes are hers!

It's making her quite clingy!

Not to mention having to shoo her out of the box every time I turn my back!

Thumber has been making like "Lightning" every time I move something!

She thinks I'm unearthing all of her toys that she has lost...which was always under something! She bolts in like "Lightning" and grabs the missing item, tripping me in the process. Suki's attacking her while protecting her boxes that she thinks Thumber is after and not the lost toy.......you know...CHAOS!

Tomorrow cats stay up stairs while we are working!!!
JILL *Renovation* TIP:

Broken Glass:

- Use a dry cotton ball to pick up the little shards of glass ...ie: light bulb glass! The fibers catch ones you can't see.

- I have also used a wet paper towel [folded over a couple of times] to pat the area where the glass shards are.

- Glass gone but light socket remains...use part of a spud, the cut end and push into glass/socket...unscrew......first remember to disconnect the power!

JILL *Cooking* TIP:

Easy Deviled Eggs

Put cooked egg yokes in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up mixing thoroughly, cut the corner tip of baggy, squeeze mixture into egg cavity. Just throw bag away when done....easy clean up!
MY PACK RATTING DAYS ARE OVER!!

I was so excited to get the renovations of my shop started that I couldn't sleep last night...errr..this morn!

Up at 2:15 am!

It probably didn't help that I had a few naps in between junk removals & cooking yesterday!

Easter Dinner was good...could have done without one guest there...but as usual over ate...felt like crap...why does a person do that to themselves?? Must be all of the good cooking!

We went home early because PoD had a migraine caused by the stress of being a single-parent! Hope she feels better today. Won't call cause nothings worse than ringing phones when you have a headache!

Today I had to do some computer work, removed Easter Decor, Display Items and figure out what's garage sale or not. It all sounds so short...so why did it take so long?

Man I'm tired!

And I am not even finished yet???

Yup....DEFINITELY NOT COLLECTING ANY MORE STUFF!!!
Cat Poetry

"A Cat's Prayer"

Now I lay me down to sleep.
The king size bed is soft and deep...
I sleep right in the center groove
My humans can hardly move!

I've trapped her legs, she's tucked in tight
And here is where I pass the night.
No one disturbs me or dares intrude
Til morning comes and "I want food!"

I sneak up slowly to begin
My nibbles on my humans chin.
She awakes up quickly. I have sharp teeth -
And my claws I will unsheathe

For the morning's here and it's time to play
I always seem to get my way.
So thank you Lord for giving me
This human person that I see.

The one that hugs me and holds me tight
And sacrifices her bed at night.

HOPPY EASTER

Saw the town rabbit, "Hoppy", this morning...out back of my place....he must have finished his route because he ditched any incriminating evidence......No basket!

You know...the one for eggs...that he stole out of that hen house....

Didn't see any chocolate stuff either....

I am so glad that I finally got to see Hoppy [after months of not]...["add photo"...that might have happened if I could have found my camera in time] and watched his/her snacking...which is pretty slim at this time of year.

I'm pretty sure this is Hoppy's snack bar as he/she nibbles for awhile then goes back to where he/her came from...I have been very fortunate to be able to watch Hoppy doing this for quite awhile and hopefully for much longer!

It looks like it's going to be a beautiful day here in Dodge...sky is clear...the wind isn't flapping the plastic wrap tangled in the trees out front...the dead leaves and winter garbage isn't swirling in the gutters and for a change the mart parking lot isn't overrun with idling vehicles...exhaust fumes filling the air!

Spent Sat spring cleaning and rejuvenation my new bedroom...far away from the leaking ceilings and rotting walls!

Lots of scrubbing and vacuuming!!!

My son has had the joy of getting to move my crap around for me...as he's off right now...due to "road ban" time!

A LOT had to go downstairs to the garage sale pile!

It was all worth it!

My son picked up a "air cleaner" in town south of us for me and I ran it for about 6 hrs before bed.

Best night's sleep in a LONG while!!

No blowing my nose a million times...no wheezing...no coughing....

CLEAN AIR!!!

Future Plans...

Our shop will be closed for this week to do renovations...customers can still leave "orders" and arrange for pick up of their completed stuff but we will be closed to street traffic.

School kids will be out for Easter break this week so the grand kids get to help out with the make-over...can we say....child labor?

A quote from my step mom would be...
"putting a kid to work will only keep them out of trouble and who knows...they might even learn something from it"!

We will all be screaming in agony with sore muscles by the time we re-open doors Apr. 17th.

Tonight Son & I will be feasting at PoD"s place and I have goodies for the kids. I got them huge stuffed floppy rabbits [they like them for pillows] and small rabbit basket filled with the sugary stuff.

Times awasting......got to accomplish potato making... I'm making mashed & scalloped and I'm also bringing a cooked ham...I have troubled with eating turkey freshly cooked...I prefer it the next day?

Have A Happy Easter and to all of you who a driving for the holidays....drive safe!

NEED HELP!

Calling all computer literate people....need help please! I'm missing commands needed to up load images.

What do I do?
............besides go screaming mad when I want to add a photo!

Problem #1.....

When I click on the pic button [upper right] it brings up the pop-up frame with the commands needed such as: "add an image to your computer", "add another image from the web"& "choose a layout" but I am missing the buttons that say "add image" and "cancel".

Problem #2.....

There should be an "up load " button to the right of "add image" button...it's missing?

These problems occurred when I switched over to new blogger.

Need to add photos for my "Orb Section.....Seeing is Believing" so please

....Anybody out there???
OOPS!

What a way to come off as intelligent....make a new quote and muck it up!

What I meant was....

Thank Goodness It's Friday!

or was it......

CAT FACTS:

WARNING - Easter Lilies can be DEADLY to your cat!

-Easter Lillie's and other variations in the lily family can cause kidney failure in cats.

-All parts of the lily plant are toxic to cats and consuming even small amounts can be life threatening. With their habit of brushing up against plants, even the pollen released by the plant can do harm.

-Within only a few hours of ingestion of the lily plant, a cat may vomit, become lethargic or develop a lack of appetite. These signs continue and worsen as kidney damage progresses. Without prompt and proper treatment by a vet, the cat may developE kidney failure in 36 to 72 hours.

- Other lilies to avoid are: Glory Lily, Tiger Lily, Stargazer Lily, Rubrum Lily, Yellow Asian Lily & Pink Asian Lily.

So if you want to celebrate Easter with flowers stick to these alternatives: Easter Orchids, Easter Cactus, Easter Daisies or Violets

HAPPY GOOD FRIDAY!

Seeing as I am NOT a religious person, the meaning of the holiday is totally lost on me...I would never celebrate someone who was murdered by Crucifixion...no matter what lame excuse it was! I feel sorry for all that do...but each to their own!

I like this holiday because the government decrees that no one should work this day and anything to break-up the weekly grind is OK with me! Every Friday is a good Friday to me! TGIF

I do celebrate Easter...not for that religious reason either! Although I do wonder about people who only believe in THAT ghost and not ALL ghosts?

I do believe in the "Easter Bunny"! Although I have always wondered "where do they get their eggs"? Has anyone ever seen bunnies breaking into the hen house and if you did...would you accuse them of stealing eggs....hmmmm?

And why isn't it the "Easter Chicken"...seeing as it's her eggs? But maybe that would be like selling your own kids...hmmmm?

And why the ducks? It definitely isn't advertised as their eggs!

Man...some of the mysteries of life?

Thankfully Its Good Friday!

CAT FACTS: *facts were found in vet health sites

- Mature cats with no health problems are in deep sleep 15% of their lives. They are in light sleep 50% of the time. That leaves just 35 % awake time, or roughly 6-8 hrs a day. Cats come back to alertness faster than any other creature.

- A cat will spend nearly 30% of their time grooming themselves.

- They lose almost as much fluid in the saliva while grooming themselves as they do through urination.

- A cats saliva contains a detergent that keeps their fur clean. A smooth, shiny coat is the sign of a healthy cat.

- Studies now show that the allergen in cats is related to their scent glands, dander & saliva. They have scent glands on their faces and at the base of their tails. Male cats generate the most scent, allergic people should tolerate spayed females the best. If your cat has dander [dandruff], keep them dander-free by washing them fairly often.

- The average lifespan of an outdoor-only cat [feral & non feral] is about 3 yrs; an indoor-only cat can live 16 & longer....recorded age to be 34.

- When a domestic cat goes after mice, about 1 pounce in 3 results in a catch.

- A cat sees about 6 times better than a human at night, and needs 1/6 the amount of light that a human does - it has a layer of extra reflecting cells which absorb light.

SNOW...SNOW...GO AWAY...COME BACK...IN NOVEMBER!

Woke this morning to the miserable sight of the flaky white crap!

IT'S BLIZZARDING AGAIN!!!

Last night my sister called from her place in Alta and we can't b---h too much as the snow they got STAYED....about a foot of it! I guess we can be happy about somethings!

I'm sure I saw boots on those early birds!

The coyotes must love this weather as the poor birds that are flying south right now have to sleep standing on the ice that's covering all of the sloughs! Can you imagine them coming in for a landing and expecting water.....wipeout!

Sure hope the Easter Bunny brings his snowshoes!

April showers means rain....doesn't it????

CAT FACTS:

-The female cat reaches sexual maturity within 6 to 10 months; most vets suggest spaying at 5 months, before her first heat period. The male usually reaches maturity between 9 & 12 mons.

-Female cats are "polyestrous", which means they may have many heat periods over the course of a year. A heat period lasts about 4-7 days if the female is bred; if she is not, the heat last longer and recurs at regular intervals.

-If left to her own devices, a female can have 3 - 7 kittens every 4 months.

-Spaying a female before her 1 or 2 heat will greatly reduce the threat of mammary cancer and uterine disease. A cat does not need to have at least one litter to be healthy, nor will they miss motherhood. Records have it that one cat gave birth 420 kittens in her lifetime and another gave birth at the age of 30 to 2 kittens.

-Cat pregnancies last about 9 weeks - between 62 & 65 days from conception to delivery.

-Female cats are "superfecund" which means that each of the kittens in her litter can have a different father.

-Neutering a male cat will, in almost all cases, stop him from spraying [territorial marking], fighting with other males [at least over females], as well as lengthen his life and improve its quality.

-The indoor cat has a longer lifespan than an outdoor cat. A cat that has never been outdoors will not miss what it doesn't know.

"APRIL SHOWERS BRINGS MAY FLOWERS"....and spring cleaning!

But as usual it SNOWED!

There is only about 1" of it and it will probably melt...but its still depressing to see!

Yesterday I got to see my first "Robin" and I sure hope he brought his snow boots with him! The weather change is probably because of the full moon tonight!

I've had the cleaning bug lately and I am quite proud of myself for all of the junk that I have been throwing out. I will have LOTS of stuff for the Town Wide Garage Sale this year! It's depressing to see just how much I have accumulated over the years! Thankfully I have my son home this weekend and he gets to be the pack horse...lugging all of that crap downstairs!

Hearing about Sir & Headmistress's woes on moving his mom has prompted me in my purge of my unnecessary hording! Also a comment made by "Abby" from the "Mart Across the Way" has helped me to be firm about what I may be leaving for my kids to deal with if I died!

This year my plans are to FINALLY fix my leaky roof! I know that the water leaking in has caused major damage to my ceiling and who knows what rot from the age of my building has helped to keep me unwell!

IT FEELS GOOD TO PURGE!

A NIGHT OUT

A rarity in its self...a night out...its been so long!!!

Last night PoD & I attended our 18th theatre production in Dodge.

It was a wonderful night...a little chilly outside but thankfully with no snow!

We sat with Wilma and Fancypants. We are all members of this theatre group but this year neither of us had anything to do with this production. We FINALLY got to just sit back and watch!

This group managed quite well without us!

We attended the "Meal" night and the food was fantastic as usual...this is catered by some of the town's women who volunteer their time to support this dual effort.

Our Hall is maintained mostly by what our theatre/supper productions bring in and thus far we have made over 85,000.00! I think all of us deserve a big pat on the back for all of the hard work and long hours that we have put in to accomplish this feat!

It felt great to be an "audience member" and I have been asked many times whether I miss it or not? I'm sorry to say the answer is NO!

I was in it from the initial start up [16 productions] and I found that I always put way too much effort into it thus making my home life/work pay for it. Tiredness and stress made me into an unlikeable person! I do have to admit that I would like to be there on the final nights but there is much more involvement than that needed! I have decided to help out only for "Festivals" which is where we get to travel throughout the province and compete in "one-act" productions. That time is still stressful but I can handle that just as long as I don't do both!

Anyways I digress...back to my evening out:

Our "new" group did a fantastic job! Their performances were perfect and their portrayal of their characters were quite believable. The audience response was wonderful and when it was over they got a "Standing O"!

This production [titled -The Man With the Plastic Sandwich"] was about a man sitting in a park trying to enjoy his lunch and the many people that annoy you when you would prefer solitude...the end results with them...helping out the character to realize his goals.

The main character was played by J-Rod. He held the production together and his ability to make people laugh helped to pulled it off. Pebbles [who also produced this play] was his first encounter and this being the first act was the longest and had tons of lines for the characters to memorize...no slip-ups that I could see. The second act was the introduction of Tomado Splat who was acting for the first time [was past Director] and he also did a great job! The third act was played by a first-timer and it didn't look like she had any stage fright at all! They also added a small cameo for someone who wanted to try a small part...she was a nice diversion.

So all-in-all it went great!

I did over-hear some negative comments about some of the context of the play but I have found that in this town...it is to be expected...as we have a lot of "prudish" people! We have never been able to please them in that sense and it does hurt ticket sales for the next year...but what can you do...you can't please everyone!

I did get a "honorable mention" in the "thank-you" part of the play introduction. They needed to use one of the trees that I had made for our halloween & one-act play productions and I also had some "greenery" that they needed to borrow from my shop.

In our past productions we also throw someones name or business name into the play...just for laughs and Wilma's name got the laughter this year.

Betty had the honor of doing my old job which was Stage Manager/Prompter/Program Designer & Tablecenter Pieces...all which were done wonderfully! See they don't need me!

Sir was on "Lights" and The Great One was on "Sound"...no screw-ups there!
New people held the positions of Director & Videographer.

I am so proud of the wonderful work that we do for our community!

PoD and I had to leave right away after it was over because of "kids-at-sitter" and for me the combination of people with too much perfume/hairspray/cologne/half a beer...aggrevated my "itis"...so we got to miss the "Social Time".

The other part I enjoyed about going out is seeing people that I haven't seen in a long while and catching up on their lives. I had quite a few nice comments from them about the shortness of my hair!

I had fun with my "Night Out"!!!

I should really get out more often!

Oh by the way.....HAPPY APRIL FOOL'S DAY.....and it didn't snow!!!

CAT FACTS

-Cats purr at the same frequency as an idling diesel engine, about 26 cycles per second. Domestic cats purr both when inhaling and exhaling. Purring does not always indicate that a cat is happy and healthy - some cats will purr loudly when they are terrified or in pain.

-Cats step with both left legs then the right legs when they walk or run. They also walk on their toes. A domestic cat can sprint at about 31 mph.

-Cats urine glows under a black light.

-Almost 10% of a cat's bones are in its tail and the tail is used to maintain balance. The domestic cat is the only species able to hold its tail vertically while walking and you can tell a cats present state of mind by observing the posture of his tail. A cat can jump 5 times as high as its tail.

- If a cat is frightened, the hair stands up fairly evenly all over the body; when the cat threatens or is ready to attack, the hair stands up only in a narrow band along the spine and tail.

- If a cat is frightened, put your hand over its eyes and forehead, or let him bury its head in your armpit and it will help to calm it.

-Cats respond most readily to names that end in an "ee" sound.

-A cat will tremble or shiver when it is in extreme pain.

-Not every cat gets "high" from catnip. If the cat doesn't have a specific gene, it won't react. Catnip is non-addictive.

-Many cats only like having their foreheads gently stroked [don't touch their back and hips], others may prefer to have their sides "thumped" [like some dogs do] and others like a gently stroking from head to tail. Not all cats are petted the same...test your cat to see what they prefer. This also goes for how each cat likes to be held.

CLOTHING DESIGNERS

These people tick me off!!!

Why is it that when you go into a clothing store or look at a catalog all of the cute stuff is just for the "young skinny minies"? It makes me mad!

Why is it that all you see for the over-weight and the older women are these ugly dowdy clothes?!!

All of the skinnies have great designs plus great colors and all we are stuck with is plain jane stuff, stripes that go the wrong way, big honking flowers or dark ugly colors!

I don't care if I can't wear mini outfits but I do care about cheerful attire but at my age I shouldn't be wearing those things...all I am supposed to be wearing is these dowdy matronly outfits!

I know there are designer stores that do carry nice stuff for the bigger and older types but on my earnings I cannot afford their prices!

I am sick and tired of being slotted into these categories because of my weight, age and what I make!

I know.....I can always wear BLACK....cause 10 to 1 I will never be skinny or young again!

"WAIT 5 MINUTES & THE WEATHER WILL CHANGE...."

Took longer than 5 minutes...but change it did!

Rain...turning to snow, making it a very gloomy day then add the good old Sask winds!

I've been watching the "Mart" sign across the streets wobbling...that's how strong the wind is right now!

My shop door normally sticks and I usually have a sign telling the customers to push hard to open it...not today!

It's been very annoying with the wind blowing the shop door open constantly...makes a person look up a lot! I have warning chimes that dingle every time someone comes in the door...with the door blowing open A LOT...all we've been hearing is the dingle!! I am not a person who likes the sound of chimes at the best of times so I am gritting my teeth...trying hard...not to rip those chimes down!

PoD also added some entertainment by scaring us both when we were on our coffee break!

A big gust of wind blew the door open and caused the pressure inside to rattle the back doors right behind her! We were both laughing at her scare when the door dingled again and someone stepped into the shop...of course she screamed again and our customer got to see 2 crazy women laughing hysterically. He now probably thinks we're both nuts!

It has been pretty slow here lately as the road bans are now on. This means that the oil-fields are too wet for them to work...thus their lack of work affects my work!

I can only hope these winds will dry up the land so we all can get back to work!!!

So "Rain, Rain go away and come back another day...."

Cat Facts -Structure:

-Both humans & cats have identical regions in the brain responsible for emotion.

-A cat's brain is more similar to a humans than that of a dog.

-A cat has more bones than a human; humans have 206, but the cat has 230-245 and some bones may fuse together as the cat ages.

-Cats have 30 vertebrae--15 more than humans.

-Cats do not have a collarbone, so they can fit through any opening the size of their head.

-Cats have 32 muscles that control the outer ear [humans have 6]. A cat can rotate its ears independently 180 degrees, and can turn in the direction of sound 10 times faster than those of the best watchdog. Cats can hear better than dogs!

-In relation to their body size, cats have the largest eyes of any mammal. Most cats do not have eyelashes. Their field of vision is about 185 degrees.

- Recent studies have shown that cats can see blue, green and some can see red.

-Blue-eyed. pure white cats are frequently deaf.

-It takes about 2 weeks for a kitten to be able to hear well. Their eyes usually open between 7-10 days.

-A cat has a total of 24 whiskers. 4 rows on each side. The upper two rows can move independently of the bottom two rows. A cat uses it's whiskers for measuring distance.

-A cats jaw has only up and down motion; it does not have any side to side motion like dogs or humans. For this reason dry food cannot take care of dental care!

-When a cat drinks, it's tongue -which has tiny barbs on it - scoops the liquid up backwards.
Cough..cough...wheez....gasp...wheez....

That's the sound of my poor lungs as I struggled to clean up my pig-sty!

It has been a two day venture and I haven't even got rid of the recycle stuff that nearly fills my back building. It's been too muddy to attempt that and today the wind has been creating a dust storm down main street!

I finally shelved most of my Halloween stuff! 25 big tote containers/boxes and that doesn't even include my manikins! I repacked stuff and threw out some [yeah right] stuff and I still need more room!

My Xmas stuff hardly takes up a tiny corner!

Can we say pack rat!

Thankfully my son was home this weekend to do the heavy lifting and all I had to do was decide where it would all go?

One thing I have decided to do was get rid of the excess stuff for the town-wide garage sale this year. I have also resolved to never attend any more sales....garage or auctions!

My new word is "Downsizing"!

Most of the crap I collected was for stage decorating for community theater and seeing as I am having so much fun not doing it anymore I can stop collecting....I'm leaving that to the new young people! The new stage decorator[s] can fill up the prop room...my place is going to be a place for work to be done.

As for my excessive Halloween stuff...some day it will be downsized also!!!

Probably when pigs fly!

WEATHER UP-DATE:

White Crap has turned back to pavement....yippee!

All of us folks who reside in Sask know that saying..."wait 5 minutes and it will change"....so I have no plans on holding my breath while I wait for it! I am sure glad I am not a "Weather Person"...although my knee seems to want to do forecasting!

Right now it's quiet!

MOUSE UP-DATE:

All quiet on the home front....Thumber has gone back to regular routine...maybe she had lunch?

HEALTH UP-DATE:

Still 2 fisted eating!!!!!! Pounds are still piling on!!!!!

Good note is....I have managed to cut back food until the evening hits...then the resolve quits!!!

Still have Bronchitis but not as bad...I think it's "snow mold..itis"????

CAT FACTS:

-Don't be alarmed when your cats bring you gifts of birds, mice or other wild critters. This is a natural part of their gift ritual, and they do it to please you.

-Cats purr to communicate.

-If you do not respond when your cat talks to you, it will soon lose the urge to communicate with you.

CAT FACTS

I have been through a lot of blogs and haven't found too much on cats. Lots of dog stuff but not cats! A lot of people have a misconception about cats and hopefully I can help change their minds or those who have a cat[s] will learn something new...I know because I sure have.

Brief History:
All cats are members of the family "Felidea". The cat family split from the other mammals at least 40,000,000 yrs ago [stats from the Encyclopedia Britannica], making them one of the oldest mammalian families. Ten human years translate to about 60 cat years. A 1 yr old cat is similar in age to an 18 yr old human.

There are about 100 distict breeds of the domestic cat. Genetic mutation created the domestic cat which is tame from birth. However if they are not around people before they reach the age of 3 months they seldom turn out to be good pets.

Cats act reserved because their ancestors hunted and lived alone. They did not live in packs and therefore depend less on others. They do not suffer from loneliness like dogs do. Cats are social to a degree but are far more concerned with territorial issues.

Australia and Antarctica are the only continents which have no native cat species.

Stay tuned for other cat facts.....
HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING

Spring has sprung!

A leak that is!

Woke last night [had fallen asleep on the couch] 11:15, to the sound of my windows rattling loudly!

Looked out to see what the heck was going on and found that Dodge was in a full blown blizzard!

It was SNOWING AGAIN!!!!

The visibility was pretty bad and it had already covered the ground....again!

Yesterday was such a nice day...the streets and sidewalks downtown were all clear....no snow or ice anywhere!

Now I have to shovel that sidewalk....again!

I figure it dropped about 1 1/2" of that crap on us!

Seeing as March came in "like a lamb" it's too soon for it to go "out like a lion"!!! There's at least 10 more days to go through before the end of the month~ so does that mean we're going to have 10 more days of snow for it to go "out like a lion"????

I sure hope not!

All those early birdies...now have to find their snow boots and winter coats....cause it's back to the deep freeze!!

Oh...by the way.....still no sign of the mouse!!!

Thumber is still looking.....so am I....

Have a Happy First Day of Spring....I got to go shovel that white crap....

WHERE DID IT GO!!!

Thumber strikes again...OUT that is!

Thumber brought me a present last night....well it was exactly a present as she wasn't quite finished with it yet!

She caught a mouse!!!

At least I think it was a mouse? It was too tiny to tell! All I could hear was this chittering sound [creature protesting] and all I could see of it was that it was quite small & dark looking...it could have even been a mole [not sure if moles move that fast or not]!

She brought it right to me and dropped it at my feet!

I got to see it for just a second and then it ran for safety under the love seat, next to where I was sitting, with Thumber in hot pursuit! I could hear her skittering around under it and then all went quiet?

This peaked Suki's [who had been napping next to me] interest and she just had to go and check it out!

That started a squabble under the love seat and out Thumber came with Suki in hot pursuit!

Nobody had a mouse in their mouth!

Now I am not afraid mice but I don't exactly care to have them loose where I reside...so relaxing was out of the question until I found out where it went or if anything happened to it!

I turned furniture upside down and moved everything possible to find that little critter...nope...nowhere to be found! There wasn't any tell-tale body parts or blood...so I am pretty sure it didn't get eaten! Granted it was so small that she could have just swallowed it!

Thumber proved me right by coming back later and kept searching around for it!

I've got to admit it...that made me quite nervous...thinking about where it might show up and when! That lasted for about 2 hrs and then I had to go to bed.

This morning I got up and walked around slowly everywhere I needed to go scanning for any signs of a body...the last thing I wanted to do was STEP ON IT!

My cats don't always eat the little critters! Usually they like to play with them until they get bored or it dies of fright and then they like to leave me the body to show me signs of their worth!

Nope....no body!

So what I want to know is:
....it still alive and living in a new place?
....did it get eaten?
....do I have to still keep a watch for a body?

Hmmmmmm

100th Post!

Who would of thought I could write 100 times?

Good or bad who knows?

I surely can't tell from the lack of responses I get!

If it wasn't for PoD, Wilma, Blue and Velvis I would begin to think that I must of clicked a spot that didn't let anyone reply...so I know that isn't the case!

If it wasn't for the "Orb" [dots] map I would assume they were the only ones tuning in...but that's not the case either...they[dots] must just be "Peeping Toms"! I don't even get any comments from my family who are"supposedly" checking in...not even for a "Happy Birthday"!

I guess that means I am right all of the times....cause I sure would relish bad comments also!

I love a good squabble...doesn't anyone have an opinion?!

So THANK YOU to my loyal fans: PoD, Wilma, Blue and Velvis!!!

Seems I am writing just to you guys...so please keep responding [even if it is only occasionally] so I know I'm not just talking to myself!

15 MINUTES OF FAME

Well PoD & I had our interview with the 2 guys that are doing a documentary on Dodge's Courthouse for the Sask Network TV.

It went pretty well I suppose...there's nothing better than letting the world know how nuts we are!

It's that look one gets that says...yup a couple of loonies...but I've got to admit these guys handled it better than most!

We were able to give them a lot of info and you could see their disbelief change to interest on just what might be going on in there. I wouldn't be too surprised if they didn't want to come back and do some filming in the dark!

Dodge is really missing out on not taking the spookiness of this courthouse to a different level! They could be making money on "Spooky Tours" and using that money to upgrade that fantastic building! Instead they seem to be not interested in the building's upkeep! So sad!

The "Museum" committee has expressed some interest in restoring the rooms back to what they used to look like long ago and I heartily agree with them!

It's "when" that I worry about!

Everyday this building gets worse and the destruction of the chimney has shortened it's life span greatly! Leaving that roof with a gaping hole is only going to damage it more! The new furnace pipe blasting heat against it's side can only be more harmful not to mention a possible fire hazard!

Maybe this 15 minutes of fame will create some interest and the ones that need to agree to this idea has to start the ball rolling...because the money they receive for the historical upkeep sure isn't enough!

They definitely have my support!!!

I would gladly scare the hell out of anyone who would dare to take a "Tour"!

IRISH BLESSING

May you always have...
Walls for the winds
A roof for the rain
Tea beside the fire
Laughter to cheer you
Those you love near you
And all your heart might desire.

Here's a song I remember from my childhood...

I'm looking for...a four leaf clover
That I over-looked before.
One leaf is sunshine...the second is rain
The third is the roses...that grows in the lane
No need explaining the one remaining
Is somebody I adore.
I'm looking over a four leaf clover
That I over-looked before!

Have A Happy St. Patrick's Day...May the luck of the irish be with you!
Health Up-Date!

Friday I finally had that check-up that I have been putting off!

With having IBS one of my worst fears has been the dreaded Bowel Cancer that killed my father!

Went to the B-fords ro get the invasive proceedure done. It didn't help that I had been up since 1:30 am worrying about it...so the long drive there was horrible...I hate the worry part of things!

Got in right away...no waiting...and listened to "Irish" music while the doctor searched!

What a nice way to hear the good news!!!

NO CANCER!!!!!

I could have got up and danced the "Irish Jig" when he told me!

Color me HAPPY!!!

JINXED!

Wished I'd never had said that there was no snow out front...cause right now it's snowing! Maybe with nothing for it to stick to the sask winds will blow it on by!!!

That Pineapple Express must of had frosting on it!

March did come in "like a lamb"...hopefully it's too soon to say..."out like a lion"!

Really tired of hearing the furnace running!

A Cat Owner's Prayer

Because I am only human,
It's sometimes hard to be
The wise, all-knowing creature
That my cat expects of me.

And so I pray for special help
To somehow understand
The subtle implications
Of each proud meowed command.

Oh, let me not forget that chairs
Were put on earth to shred;
And what I like to call a lap
Is actually a bed.

I know it's really lots to ask
But please, oh please, take pity;
And though I'm only human,
Make me worthy of my kitty!

Author Unknown
MAKE UP YOUR MIND!

The weather was nice for about 2 days, supposedly from the Pineapple Express Weather Front, but now it must be gone...because its back to the deep freeze!

PoD and I sat out back [monday] and relished in the warm spring air watching the male pigeons strutting around trying to impress the females. One guy was doing his darnedest but got nowhere with the picky females! Seems even female pigeons are finicky!

I've always stated that my most favorite times of the seasons are in the spring and fall...because of the lack of flying insect problems! Not this year!

Seems the pigsty next door [a heritage building] has crap/garbage laying around and is of interest to the wasps that must live in that building. They all must be wearing fur coats because it should be still too chilly to venture forth! I'm not talking about one or two...there was lots of them! We gave them a wide berth as we walked by!

But where is the "Town By-Law" about pigsties downtown!

One thing nice about that warm snap...all of the ice/snow in front of my place has melted all away!

The only ice problem I have now is on the other side of me that comes from the water run off from the other building's roof. I get ice patches from both ends...front and back! Makes walking very treacherous!

I never thought I would be this impatient about the weather...guess its better than rain turning into snow!

I still remember the freaky snow storm we got April 1, a few years back, that dropped a foot of snow on us...so who knows what will be next?

IRISH PROVERB...

To please himself only the cat purrs!

GOOD ADVICE...

Never hold a Dust Buster and a cat at the same time!
WHEN DREAMS BECOME ANNOYING!

Awaken again this morning [3:48] by that annoying crying child in my dream!

This has happened to me once before!

In my dream this annoying child [nobody I know] is constantly crying...kind of a high pitched whining sound! I am telling this mother/friends, of this kid, to shut this kid up...but no one is listening! Everywhere I go in my dream this sound continues...driving me insane! Finally I can't take it any longer and I yell loudly for him/her to, just SHUT UP!

I must of yelled it out loud because I woke myself up...that's when I discovered that the whining/crying kid....was ME making that noise!

It seems my bronchitis-wheezing was so loud that I was annoying myself!

No way I can go back to sleep now until I get rid of that sound!

So I find myself in bloggy-land!

I sought help yesterday by visiting my doctor and after much testing found I have a virus that drugs can't fix...only time will heal it or get worse. Seems it has to get worse before medicine will work?

Why aren't they looking for a way to cure viruses?

Yesterday, AJ also had to see the doctor and she now has bronchitis too...poor kid!
This means she has to stay home from school for a couple of days...so now PoD can't come to work!

It sucks being your own boss with only one employee!

I used to look forward to sick-time off when I worked for others [way back when] so now I guess I have to pay the price now for my slothfulness in the past!

But seeing as I am the boss I can close shop...put up my "out doing installations" sign and get some rest when I need it. My secretary [answering machine] can take messages!

So I guess I should stop wasting time whining here and get some work done while I still feel well enough....need more coffee....

Irish Proverb:

"Beware of people who dislikes cats"

Sunday, March 11, 2007

WTF!!!

BANG! RATTLE..RATTLE!

That's what woke me this morning at4:41 am!

Sounded like it came from the doors downstairs!

The "bang" noise sounded like a door slamming shut! That made me sit upright in bed...heart pounding...then came the noise of something/someone trying to open the double doors...you know...rattle...rattle!

Suki had been sleeping with me and she was sitting up looking towards the door...so I know she heard it also! Thumber was standing in my doorway looking towards downstairs! So I know it wasn't anything that the cats did...like they could have rattled the doors anyways?

My first thought was the back doors...was someone trying to get in...or maybe some stupid drunk person thought they would be funny and tried to kick them in!

I jumped out of bed and looked out the window to see if any fools where in the back alley but no one showed up in that area! I even opened the window so I could here if anyone was there...nothing!

I stood there for awhile listening for anything else...still nothing!

Both cats headed out the bedroom door so I figured I would follow them to see what was it that they were going to investigate! I knew if Thumber ran...that would mean someone was in the place and Suki would be brave/curious enough to see what/who it was!

Both cats went downstairs so I followed...heart still pounding!

I kept the lights off because I am used to walking around here in the dark and I figured that they wouldn't know where I was. I have a lot of crap around so it would make it hard for someone to move about in the dark if they didn't know the layout too well!

Nothing!

I checked all doors...everything was as I left it!

Nothing had fallen or was broken! All was quiet!
I listened for any noise out the back doors...nothing!

NOW I AM WIDE AWAKE! Thankfully the heart has stopped pounding!

Must of being the "slamming doors"...which happens quiet a bit in here! I don't mind it in the daytime as I have gotten used to it but I sure hate it when it wakes me up that way!!!

Can't go back to sleep...nothing to do but blog and wait for the coffee to finish brewing....

and listen.........

TALK ABOUT LEARNING SOMETHING NEW TODAY!

Being bored I decided to check out how others blog and what they yak about.

Man did I get an eye opening!

Stupid naive me thought everyone blogged the same...you know general ideas!

There is some real crap out there!

Don't know why I worried about coming off as weird...I am actually kind of on the normal side compared to the crap I just previewed.

I know its "each to their own" but boy oh boy there are some f__ked up stuff!

Go onto the main page on bloggie here and keep hitting the "next blog" button.

It's seems anything is allowed on here!

I got an eye opener about "hot docking"!
Hate to admit not knowing everything but I definitely did not know anything about that! Don't bother asking me what it is because you are going to have to look that one up for yourselves! Warning...this is not for young eyes!

My grand kids are NEVER going to use my computer for looking up blogs!

Random looking gets you porno, nudity, racism, Nazism [if that's such a word] and who knows what else because I gave up after awhile!

Bloggie desperately needs to modify its blog search and separate itself into different sections!
1. Adult Content
2. Interests
3. Languages

I believe in the freedom of speech but let me also have the freedom of choosing what I want to hear/see about!!!

10 LAWS FOR CATS TO LIVE BY:

1. Always give generously. A small bird or rodent left on bed tells them, you care.

2. Climb your way to the top. That's why the drapes are there.

3. Curiosity never kill anything except for maybe a few hours.

4. Find your place in the sun. Especially if it happens to be on that nice pile of warm, clean laundry.

5. If you are not receiving enough attention, try knocking over several expensive antique lamps.

6. Life is hard, then you nap.

7. Make your mark in the world. Or at least spray each corner.

8. Never sleep alone when you can sleep on someones face.

9. Variety is the spice of life. One day ignore people, the next day annoy them.

10. When in doubt, cop an attitude.

TODAY IS INTERNATIONAL WOMAN’S DAY!

This day was founded by the United Nations in1977…March 8th is a day to celebrate all of the women who have touched or even inspired you!

Motherhood:

1977 is also the year that my daughter was born and she was my biggest inspiration ever to become a better person and a worth-while mother!

I am so proud to say that she has turned out to be better than I could of ever of hoped for! With all of what she has to go through in her own life she has always been there to be a shoulder I could cry on and a helper for me to continue to carry on! What more could I ever of asked for!

Both of my children and grand children are a measuring stick of my success and life would be nothing without them all! They taught me patience!

Sisterhood:

My two younger sisters are the other ones who have inspired me to become a better sister! They showed be how to open my heart to a dysfunctional family and made me understand that I wasn’t alone! My younger sister now carries that burden daily as she is the bringer of all of the family messages! Without her I would hear nothing! She brings me family!

Strength:

My Step-Mother was my inspiration to make me make use of all of my talents! She took a willful girl and made her into a challenging person…she taught me how to stand up for myself! She also taught me the right way and the wrong way on how to bring up kids!

Friendship:

Lastly but not least…Wilma! She taught me how to open up to strangers…she gave me the freedom of speech…the therapy of blogging!

Colour this day a RAINBOW!

Cat Poem – taken from www.adoptacatfoundation.org

The food in my bowl
Is old and more to the point
Contains no tuna.

So you want to play.
Will I claw at dancing string?
Your ankle’s closer.

There’s no dignity
In being sick: which is why
I don’t tell you where.

Seeking solitude
I am locked in the closet.
For once I need you.

Tiny can dumped in Plastic bowl
Presentation: One star
Service: none.

Am I in your way?
You seem to have it backwards:
This pillows taken.

Your mouth is moving;
Up and down, emitting noise.
I’ve lost interest.

The dog wags his tail,
Seeking approval. See mine?
Different message.

My brain: walnut-sized.
Yours: largest amongst primates
Yet, who leaves for work?

Most problems can be
Ignored. The more difficult
Ones can be slept through.

My affection is conditional.
Don’t stand up,
It’s your lap I love.

Cats can't steal the breath
Of children. But if my tail’s
Pulled again, I’ll learn.

I don’t mind being
Teased, any more than you mind
A skin graft or two.

So you call this thing
Your cat carrier. I call
These my blades of death.

Toy mice, dancing yarn
Meowing sounds.
I’m convinced: You’re an idiot.

Is This A Hint or What?

The Weird Cat struck again!

The night before she brought me another present...a hairbrush?

This hairbrush is a good size that an average dog can handle but somehow Suki managed to bring it up from downstairs and drop it at my feet!

Question is....is it a hint that I should brush my hair...or maybe its time to brush hers?

By the way...both cats LOVE having their fur brushed so who knows?
UNDER THE WEATHER!

The "cold" bug struck again! It is a rotten vicious cycle!

During cold/flu seasons everyone should wear masks [like Micheal Jackson wears all of the time] when they plan on being in crowded places! Especially places that have runny faced kids!

Or maybe one of the science projects [you know the one on germs] escaped!

Aj was home sick Monday with a cold/sore ears and now PoD is home sick today with it!

I don't think I gave it to them as my cold likes me and refused to go away!

PoD works with me daily so she should have gotten it a long time ago if I was contagious and should have passed it to her kids then!

The science fair had plenty of runny noses and a couple even came to the birthday party?

You figure with being ill so much that I would have figured out the saying "feed a fever and starve a cold" or is it "feed a cold and starve a fever"???

It must be "feed a cold and starve a fever" because I haven't stopped feeding mine!

Does one really need to have a fever before the "eating continuously" stops?!!

See what I mean..."a rotten vicious cycle"!!!

Got to go blow my nose......

UPDATE ON GRANDKIDS DAY

Man with all my whining I forgot to let all you impatiently waiting people about how our day went with the Science Fair and birthday party!

The first phone call came at noon!

AJ has this problem of thinking her mom will forget!

So since she has the shop and mom's cell number memorized she gives mom these "where are you calls" to make sure that her mom isn't a "dead beat mom" and forgets anything! I think AJ was in Kindergarten when PoD must of missed something and it has been a worry for her ever since!

PoD let her know that we had to eat lunch first and we would be there around 1:00 or so.

Well lunch place was busy and we had some more stuff to pick up because of a party addition so we ate late.

We had another phone call from her while we were eating!

She is definitely a "worry wart"!

Finally we were there...around 1:00 or so! AJ greeted us at the doorway to the gym where the fair was being held...she had been frantically waiting for us! You could see the relief on her face as she recognized that we were finally there!

I have always made it a point to attend all of my kids functions and wasn't about to miss my grand kids stuff either!

AJ's display was in the second row and we had to look at others before we finally made it to hers [more worry for her] so we got a glimpse of what many in her class had done also.

This fair was a combination of grade 3 to 7.

AJ's display was great...she did a really good job!!!

I was quite pleased with her effort and the fact that she had no help! We saw quite a few that were good also but many that looked like "parents" did it for them or at least helped!

I was not impressed with what a lot of the older kid's projects...a lot looked like they were thrown together at the last minute! What impressed me was the diversity of subjects...not too many duplications! And there was only 2 volcanoes!

You should have seen the chaos of kids! I am sure glad I am not a teacher! The kids [except my grand kids] all looked like they were on hyper-pills!

PoD and I were sure glad to get out of there!

Party time!

We managed to have some time for coffee before the party kids arrived!

Then chaos hit! Thankfully a few kids had hockey practice and couldn't make it...not good for JD but he was happy with who did come!

We do not do games and the kids are happy that we don't!

Their excitement is playing with other kids toys and love my grand kids rooms...which they think are very cool [I will be blogging about the rooms when I can add photos]!

AJ was able to have a girl friend [her brother was a party guest] over to play with her and amazingly there were no problems...we always read them the "riot act" first just in case!

After playing a bit AJ opened his presents...then came the food!

We had hotdogs, snacks, pop and JD's birthday cake was cup cakes...which was a very smart idea! We let the kids put their own hotdogs together themselves and they loved it!

Next thing we knew moms were arriving to take their darlings home!

Everything happened so fast that it wasn't that stressful...we worried for nothing!

I then hugged my grand kids goodbye and went home to peace and quiet!

There wasn't even anyone on the answering machine!

Colour my day VERY HAPPY!

ALL BETTER!

Woke this morning feeling lots better than I did last night.

Checked out all other body parts and all okay!
The right knee hurts a bit...must of wrenched it in the "wipe out" and the old noggin' has a nice goose egg...slight headache!

So all and all I came out alright!

Can we say paranoid?!!
Lately with all my illness and life in general I seemed to be living a life of "what next" syndrome!

Our town has suffered a few deaths of young people [heart related] and one can't help feeling "what IS going to happen next"?!!

Screw all the aches, pains and other woes....

All whining aside...I will count my lucky stars and be thankful for just being alive!!!!

NOT A GOOD IDEA!

I didn't think I had anything to blog about today...until I went for a walk!

It had been a lazy day for me with too much TV for entertainment and thus giving me a slight headache. So I decided to clear my head /sinus and go for a walk.

It was really nice out except for the wind...which was a little chilly.
All the stores were closed downtown and it was a nice walk until I stepped on some black ice and down I went!

Wipe Out!

I ended up hitting the back of my head on the sidewalk when I fell!

Thankfully I had a toque on and that protected my head somewhat. But now my mild headache is now a real throbber! Hopefully my skull is thick enough and my fall didn't cause any more problems!

I have never broken a bone ever! Although I have fallen twice before with bad results...once when I was 13 giving me a hairline fracture [skull] and again 6 yrs ago when I dislocated my left elbow.

I had just gotten over the fear of falling [at my age] and now it's back again!

I guess I will leave the walking to the treadmill until our ice age is over!!

Got to go and take a headache pill and maybe an ice pack....?

Irish Friendship Wish...

May there always be work for your hands to do;

May your purse always hold a coin or two;

May the sun always shine on your windowpane;

May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain;

May the hand of friend be always near you;

May your heart be filled with gladness to cheer you!

Work like you don't need the money,

Love like you've never been hurt,

Dance like nobodys watching,

And sing like nobodys listening!

May Good Luck follow you always!
MY GRAND KIDS DAY!

Well another week has gone by and I am still blowing my nose...I should have bought stocks in the Kleenex factory for all the tissues I have gone through! I sure am tired of constantly blowing...not to mention still talking like a fog horn! I finished the antibiotic regime and still feel like crap! Can one take more antibiotics? I guess time will tell if this goes away?

Today will be a busy day after lunch as we will be closing shop for the rest of the day.

There is a science fair today at the school right after lunch and my grand daughter has her first entry [gr.3]. It doesn't matter to me how she does...I'm excited to see just what she has done. The only help she received was from me on her back drop board...all I did was cut it out for her. Other than that she did it all herself!

After that PoD and I will be getting her house ready to host seven kids for JD's birthday party! He was unable to have it on his birthday as it was the school's winter break. Hopefully we will make it through without losing our minds.

Seven over-rambunctious boys are a lot to handle!

Children [not my grand kids] today are brought up differently and can be quite obnoxious!
In this day and age parents don't want to have to be disciplinarians...it's like they are afraid their children won't like them if they are?

Sounds stupid to me!

I guess I was a bad mom by raising my kids to respect others and not to be hellions!
I knew that I could take my kids anywhere and people would like them!

Thankfully my daughter is the same way because my grand kids are a joy to be around!!

Both of my kids are wonderful adults today and there is no signs that they were abused by being disciplined properly! If anything we are closer than most...my kids show me the respect that I deserve for being a good parent!

So PoD and I will just have to "bite-the-bullet" and keep repeating..."it's only for a couple of hours and then it will be over"!!

One thing I know for sure..."I can go home for some peace and quiet"!

Today will be a test of my PATIENCE!

Maybe with my ears being plugged-up I won't hear too much?

This will be a multi-coloured day!

It's Friendship Week!

Just received an email from a friend in the form of a "Chain Letter"!

It has the usual wish you good tidings...yada, yada...

Then it utters a curse in the end!

What kind of friend sends you good luck one moment and if you don't send it on to others you will have a year of back luck?

Why would I want to send this note to my friends to insure my good luck and then bind them with this curse...makes no sense to me!

So in saving my friends from this curse I will take my chances and risk the year of bad luck by deleting the message!

Better bad luck than NO FRIENDS!

Please be a good friend and quit these "Chain Letter" curses!
NOT A WINNER!

I picked up tickets for the "million for 25 yrs" draw and it was drawn yesterday!

Nope...not a winner!

What a waste of money...on my part!

I don't know why I waste the money as I am definitely not lucky in games of chance!

I guess the dreaming is over and back to reality...I will be working to get myself out of the hole until I die!

I can think positive...I know by working I will have earned it!

At least I am employed!

Counting my own blessing...QoH
Weird Cat!

My cat Suki is the weirdest cat I have ever lived with!

We used to live on an acreage where there was lots of room for a cat to have fun. You know; climb trees and hunt the little animals! She always liked to bring me a little surprize to show me how good she was or maybe something I would like to eat?

Since moving into town she has never been allowed the freedom of going outside.
She wouldn't last two minutes out there!
She would either get run over or someone would pick her up...she's just too friendly!
So I have to keep her in much to her displeasure!

The one thing she hasn't stopped doing is bringing me presents!

Generally it is the pieces of discarded vinyl...I can tell when she has had a busy night from all of the vinyl balls that I have to pick up the next morning.
I used to collect these little "Kindersurprize Toys" and her favorites were ones that had wheels. When stepped on they hurt worse than the "dinky toys" my son used to leave around! So I put them away where she couldn't find them.

That didn't stop the bringing of gifts!

The other night I could hear her bringing me another gift!
When she brings a gift to me she makes this weird "sounding" noise to call me to come and see. It's something a female cat does when she has kittens and she is bringing them food to eat...kind of like calling them for dinner.

Anyways...this noise is the weirdest yet!

My first thought is that she must have caught a mouse [there has been a couple so far] because she sounded different. I hoped it was dead becaused I didn't feel like chasing a live one around after she let it go. I know it's her challenge to me whether I can catch it or not!

But to my surprise she brought me a pencil sharpener!

Not your ordinary tiny sharpener! This one had a container that caught the shavings as you sharpened your pencil! How she got her small mouth around that big sharpener is a mystery to me. The sharpener is a round barrel type with a diameter of 1.25" and is 2" high!

I very seldom use a sharpener as I prefer a pen to a pencil!

The next night I decided to paint another rock and needed to sketch a rough draft first. I always use a paint brush and paint to do this sketch...never using a pencil. This time I though I would try the pencil instead of the paint.

I had to search around for a pencil and when I found one, it needed to be sharpened!

Low and behold there on the table in front of me was the pencil sharpener that my cat brought me!

Like I said...weird cat!
