HALLOWEEN HAS LANDED.....

Due to the unusually warm temperatures I was able to get up my outside decor. The inside stuff has been up since they first appeared in stores [actually a little sooner but I will tell you about that in another post]. The heat a mid-day is unbearable! By 4:00 its murder inside and the air conditioner has to come on? It's weird!

Again Saskatchewan has hit all times records for " Unusually Warm Temperatures" which has really helped everyone around here to be back working again! The heat has amazingly dried the soggy land quickly and harvest is in full swing!

Oil guys are back working too...:)

The trees were a beautiful harvest color but are now dropping their leaves everywhere! I love the sound of their rustling in the wind and love watching them dance down the street.

If I was a cat I would chase them...;)

The one thing I can hardly wait for is the harvest dust to settle down...kind of wish for a rain...;} [bite my tongue] my allergies are keeping me awake...;{

As I said, all have started to lose their leaves or at least have turned color....

not my sweet peas:)

We have been getting frost on some mornings, but have missed killing off these little guys! I am now getting little bouquets everyday....I do this just in case they don't make the night.

I wish I could smell them but allergy stuffed nose prevents me...;{

They are the only flower scent that doesn't make me sneeze or swell up...:)

I have even got two colors I have never seen before....
Deep purple and a red one?
I know I am out of touch with the flower world ;{
I am used to seeing just the pale pastel colors.
They were my mom fav too, she grew LOTS of them!

But it's kind of different seeing them with the Autumn and Halloween decor....

Guess it was intended they bloom after all!
Did lose the sunflowers at the side of the garage but not the ones next the the neighbor's fence...they are struggling to live, so who knows with them? I am watering them in the morning.

Got a compliment on the Halloween decor [thru PoD] about a family that drives by nightly just to see what I've done next....

How does one keep adding more without getting gawdy....oops too late...;}

I still have to connect the pumpkin pillar on the left side....maybe more fencing....hmmmm

Overdoing it at Halloween is just. not. possible!

;}

My biggest expense was last year's purchase of the blow-up cat and 2 spider curtain lights. That was covered by the extra bonus cash from the grad class that year and I was told to do something frivolous with it...so I did  ;}

I have never paid full price for the big plastic decor...they are garage sale finds! The first one was "Boo and his Pumpkin" in 03' for 5.00. Since then max 2.00...most can't handle their bulk...;) I have lots of storage...our vehicle collection in the yard.

The pumpkin towers are goodie pails, holes cut in the bottom, fastened together and lit with mini lights. Their bases are xmas tree stands obtained thru garage sales too.

My brother and sister-in-law have gifted me with their excess stuff this year [story on that to come] and their round lit Halloween sign will now become a permanent fixture! Strangely, I had planned that corner to be my lit sign holder place? Had no definite plans on what to put in it or when I could afford to?

I had recycled an old cement block salvaged from the dump [by my son-in-law] in a place I want never to be dug up..."Suki's" final resting place! This cement block had a pipe hole and would be perfect for a sign and pole. Naturally the hole was wider than the pipe and thoughts of what to fill it with, without the expense of buying cement, were solved by "cat litter"!

All cat owners know how sticky cat litter is...when wet! It's like cement!

Put in sign, which came already attached/wired to pole, into block's hole. Filled half way, add lots of water, wiggled sign to settle litter goo, add more litter, repeat til full, tamping in down with what ever fits.

It hardened to the point where it never rotated in yesterday's wind!   :)

Thanks Tank and SewLady for my new lit sign!

I can replace the Halloween with what ever I want and even if the place reverts back to just a home, it can be used privately too for seasonal greetings or family name/address!

:)
